Weekly Update// Pastor Chris

Dear Asbury Family,

Happy Thursday! I am excited to begin a new preaching/teaching series with you this Sunday called “Credo.” Credo is a Latin word that means “I believe.” In this series, we’ll be exploring the most important of our beliefs, which is what we believe about God and the Christian faith.

Our guide for this series will be the Apostles’ Creed. Crafted by the early Christians, the Apostles’ Creed is the oldest statement of the Christian faith outside of the Bible. The earliest appearance of the Apostles’ Creed occurred sometime around 150 AD (the final version came into existence around the 300s AD). The Apostles' Creed was developed to safeguard, preserve, and transmit the faith to future generations.

The messages in the series will be as follows:

I Believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth (May 22)

I Believe in Jesus Christ, His (God’s) Only Son, Our Lord (May 29)

I Believe in the Holy Spirit (June 5)

I Believe in the Holy Catholic (Universal) Church, the Communion of Saints (June 12)

I Believe in the Forgiveness of Sins (June 19)

I Believe in the Resurrection of the Body and the Life Everlasting (June 26)

In the sermon this Sunday, we’ll talk a bit about the Apostles' Creed itself and how it came into being. Then we’ll take a closer at the first line, “I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth.” So make sure to join us for worship at either our 9:30am (contemporary) or 11am (traditional) services. As always, you can worship in person or online.

I also want to invite all families with little ones to attend the Asbury Family Carnival, which will be tomorrow on our campus beginning at 5:30pm (if it rains, we will meet in the Fellowship Hall). Please pray that our all families have a fun and safe time as we kick off summer together.

Have a great weekend, and I’ll see you soon!

 Blessings,

Chris
